Job summary

NRG Energy in Nipton, CA seeks an Instrumentation Technician to install, calibrate, and maintain plant instrumentation at the Ivanpah Generating Station. This role involves working around rotating equipment, high voltage areas, and varying shifts.

You will read P&ID/diagrams, troubleshoot relays and control systems, document work orders, and support safety and environmental compliance while collaborating with apprentices and team members.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of instrumentation maintenance experience preferred in a power plant.
• Knowledge of plant instrumentation and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain protection relays, tests and control systems for boilers, turbines, generators and auxiliaries.
• Read and interpret P&ID/CWD to locate and repair systems and interlocks.
• Document work orders, calibration sheets, and time cards; maintain records.
