Job summary

AVTEC, a division of the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, is seeking a Power Plant Instructor in Seward to plan, develop, and deliver instruction for Power Plant Operator and Bulk Fuels Operator programs online and in person.

The role includes maintaining curriculum, building and maintaining labs, coordinating advisory board meetings, and maintaining student training records, with opportunities to apply teaching skills across multiple formats and locations.

Qualifications

• Four years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in the applicable field; and two years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field; and two years professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.
• An industry recognized professional certification in the applicable field; and two years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field; and two years professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and deliver instruction in the Power Plant Operator and Bulk Fuels Operator programs ONLINE and in person.
• Maintain and develop program curriculum; design, build, and maintain the practical labs and shop areas.
• Facilitate program advisory board meetings; maintain student training records.
