Job summary

The City of Ames Electric Department is offering Engineering Co-Op positions to support its Power Plant operations in Ames, IA. Co-ops will gain hands-on experience in inspection, maintenance, and process improvement for municipal power facilities.

Full-time student status must be maintained; PPE and safety equipment are provided. On-campus interviews are anticipated in October for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in Iowa State University’s Co-op Program.
• Full-time student status must be maintained throughout the co-op.
• Sophomore or junior level in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from design to install, such as new systems or upgrades, within schedule and budget.
• Perform field inspections and document equipment, parts, and running conditions.
• Develop tracking systems for operational data and inventory.
• Design improvements and propose projects to management and oversee final completion.
