Job summary

CAMS is seeking a Plant Engineer to perform entry- and intermediate-level engineering work at the General James M. Gavin Power Plant in Cheshire, Ohio. The role emphasizes safe operations, environmental compliance, and plant efficiency improvements.

Key duties include leading process evaluations, evaluating equipment performance, and supporting asset maintenance while coordinating engineering analyses and project opportunities. Travel to job sites may be required.

Qualifications

• B.S. or advanced degree in related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
• Computer Skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint).
• Commitment to achieving zero harm with respect to safety and environmental compliance.

• Provide technical guidance with respect to all plant activities to ensure compliance with all appropriate local, state and federal environmental control regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Act and other applicable laws and regulations.

• Promote a continuous improvement culture where energy is utilized to identify and improve business gaps.

• Ability to lead process evaluations, including materials, temperatures, flows, and pressures involving gases, fluids and solids. Examples of equipment are pumps, conveyors, valves, steam generators, and rotating equipment (turbines, fans, centrifuges, pugmills).
• Execute or coordinate structural analysis reviews and recommendations.
• Execute or coordinate root cause analysis to determine failure mechanisms.
• Ability to lead maintenance or project improvement opportunities.
• Develop a strong working knowledge of facility’s heat rate parameters and improvement opportunities.
• Optimize material, parts, and equipment inventories to maintain facility in a responsible manner.
• Provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the various plant systems and supporting ancillary equipment.
• Conduct results engineering. This includes conducting performance tests, analyzing operating data, and developing operational plans and equipment recommendations to optimize performance and profitability.
• Recommend and direct strategical improvements to equipment design, operations, and maintenance initiatives.
• Support the development of plant O&M and capital forecast, as well as formulate business cases.
• Responsible for project KPI’s: safety, environmental, budget, schedule, quality, reliability, etc.
• Ability to develop technical/construction work scopes and thoroughly review technical proposals.
