The Anamosa State Penitentiary is looking for a Power Plant Engineer 4 to join their Power Plant team.
In this position, you will perform advanced journey-level work and lead incarcerated individuals in the operations and maintenance of equipment at the Power Plant that supplies utility services to the Correctional Facility.
The Power Plant is located outside the Penitentiary.
The staff in the Power Plant are responsible for operating and maintaining the emergency electrical generation system, steam, water, and sewer systems, and two water wells.
It is beneficial to have knowledge of the principles and procedures related to fuel and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam-generating boilers, electrical turbines and generators, or centralized air-conditioning and auxiliary equipment.

Candidates should have the equivalent of four years of full-time work experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam boilers, centralized air-conditioning, electrical power generation equipment, and auxiliary systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This can include substituting 30 semester hours of accredited coursework in the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam boilers from a military school, recognized trade or vocational school, or area college for each year of the required experience, up to a maximum substitution of one year; or current continuous experience in the state Executive Branch including two years of full-time work as a Power Plant Engineer 3.

Certain employees in this class may be required to obtain a Fire Sprinkler Installer and Maintenance License within a period determined by the appointing authority, in accordance with Chapter 100D, Iowa Code.
