Job summary

City of Fulton is seeking a hands-on Power Plant Operations assistant to monitor engines, logs readings, and support fabrication projects. You’ll progress through an apprenticeship program and work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 1–3 years in power plant ops, and a valid Class B CDL. Haz-Mat endorsement eligibility and ability to pass drug tests are required. On-site position with benefits and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 3 years' experience in power plant operations.
• Must be 21 years or older (Haz-Mat endorsement of CDL).
• Knowledge of machinery and ability to make repairs.
• Fabrication experience preferred.
• May be required to work weekends or various shifts (evenings/nights).
• Subject to emergency call-in.
• Must pass pre-employment drug testing and periodic testing.
• Must have a valid Class B drivers' license.

Responsibilities

• Takes plant readings on engines and fuel; logs readings.
• Answers phones; logs trouble calls and dispatches personnel.
• Monitors water towers, reservoirs and pumps for citywide placement.
• Monitors breaker panels; notes variances and acts as needed.
• Operates engine control panels; records readings.
• Starts jet turbine engines and conducts testing procedures.
• Monitors power levels; schedules changes per procedures.
• Performs preventative and overhaul maintenance on engines and auxiliaries.
• Delivers fuel to other departments; coordinates after-hours dispatch.
