Job summary

SiFive is seeking a researcher to develop power models for RISC-V based CPUs. You will correlate power estimates with RTL and silicon while exploring architecture options to optimize performance and power.

The role blends hardware and software engineering, requiring strong problem-solving and a fast learner. You will work on models that help predict the impact of design changes, with opportunities for equity and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Architecture.
• 3+ years of experience in power analysis and modeling.
• Experience with power impacts at architecture, logic design, and circuit levels.
• Knowledge of high-performance out-of-order CPU designs.
• Experience with ASIC power analysis and optimization.
• Hands-on expertise with HW or SW development is a strong plus.
• Competency in software engineering best practices for large OO codebases.
• Self-starter with fast learning and strong problem-solving.

Job Description

SiFive is creating RISC-V based CPU IPs faster and cheaper than ever before by combining the best practices of rapid, iterative software design with the proven fidelity of hardware engineering. We are seeking a person to develop power models of our processors.

Responsibilities

• Develop power models for architecture exploration and development
• Correlate power models with RTL and Silicon
• Develop innovative methods to predict power of design changes

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Computer Science / Computer Architecture
• 3+ years of experience in power analysis and modeling
• Experience with power impacts at architecture, logic design, and circuit levels.
• Good knowledge of computer architecture of high performance out-of-order CPU designs.
• Experience with ASIC power analysis and optimization.
• Hands-on expertise with either HW development (RTL/implementation flows, verification/validation, backend flows, FPGA flows) or SW development is a strong plus.
• Competency in software engineering best practices needed to maintain and refactor very large object oriented code bases.
• Self-starter, fast learner, strong problem-solving skills

Pay & Benefits

• We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline, and our compensation range reflects the cost of labor in the U.S. geographic market based on the location of the role.
• Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant work experience.
• For candidates who receive and offer, the starting salary will vary based on various factors including, but not limited to, such qualifications as, skill level, competencies, and work location.
• The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee.
• Base Pay Range $178,848.00-$218,592.00
• In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for variable/ incentive compensation and/ or equity.
• In addition, this role is eligible for a comprehensive, competitive benefits package which may include healthcare and retirement plans, paid time off, and more!
