Job summary

Aurora Energy Research in Austin is looking for a Power Markets Associate to support Chronos, Aurora's battery valuation software, in ERCOT and CAISO. You will work across Advisory, Product, Research and Commercial teams to deepen battery market knowledge and deliver client-facing analyses.

The role requires nodal US power markets knowledge and strong analytical and communication skills to explain complex results to clients.

Aurora's Software Solutions team is building the global investment analytics platform for the energy transition. Widely adopted by leading energy asset owners, operators, developers, and investors, the platform changes the way that energy market analytics are performed and delivered. To best enable the user experience, both through client engagement and analysis delivery, Aurora is developing a global technical Client Solutions team that provides the critical end-to-end interface between the underlying model development and the end user.

We are currently looking for a motivated Power Markets Associate to join the team in Austin, to support the growth of Chronos, Aurora's battery valuation software, in ERCOT and CAISO. This role sits cross-functionally between Advisory, Product, Research, and Commercial teams, developing battery market expertise while supporting client-facing analysis and providing structured feedback to internal product teams.

The successful candidate will combine nodal US power markets knowledge with keen analytical ability, and a knack for client-facing interactions. They will be a fast learner who excels in a highly collaborative role, and will be able to navigate the complexities of power market forecasting software, while also being able to articulate these complex results to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Empower leading developers, utilities, and funds across the power sector to deploy capital in the Energy Transition, by leveraging Aurora's software suite for investment decisions.
• Collaborate with Aurora's US Advisory teams to perform feature-bridging analyses for client projects, enabling access to pre-release features and novel insights.
• Lead engagement on client transaction support projects, using Aurora's software suite to perform market analysis and/or site-specific asset valuations
• Deliver specialized client training, demonstrating workflows, and guiding users through the creation and interpretation of site-specific valuation outputs.
• Work closely with internal Research, Modeling, and Product teams as you drive client software queries to resolution and communicate client feedback to inform product strategy.
• Partner with internal Product teams to shape the evolution of Aurora's software suite and development roadmaps.
• Utilize customer usage & health dashboards to coordinate with internal Account Managers, and engage with customers to drive usage, satisfaction, and retention.
• Lead, manage, and develop more junior members of the team.

What we are looking for

Required attributes:

• At least 3 years of professional experience in a client-centric and knowledge-driven role in power markets.
• Strong analytical capabilities in engineering, business, economics, or similar.
• Strong communication skills with confidence in client-facing situations and other complex stakeholder situations.
• Demonstrated project management skills and ability to drive complex initiatives to successful completion.
• Results-driven, with a high degree of persistence in reaching goals and a hands-on approach to ensuring targets are achieved.
• Strong team player, with a track record of success in team environments.

Desirable attributes:

• Domain expertise in nodal power market analytics (ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, NYISO)
• Project finance, Tax equity, M&A transaction experience
• Client-facing role
• Experience with at least one programming language (e.g. SQL, Python, R, etc.)
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
