The company brings a decade of global leadership in renewable energy to North America, combining best-of-world technology, processes, and partnerships to deliver utility-grade energy solutions customized for local energy markets. With proven capabilities across the renewable energy value chain, Hanwha Renewables minimizes uncertainty and risk, and helps customers achieve a higher return on their investment in renewable energy.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Power Marketing Analyst will support the analysis of power market trends, risk assessment, regulatory developments, and other insights that inform the company's power marketing and origination strategy for its solar and energy storage project development portfolio. The role supports the sourcing and execution of offtake opportunities for utility-scale solar, energy storage, and hybrid projects, and helps the Origination & Power Marketing team build strategic partnerships with utilities and other load-serving entities (LSEs) around Power Purchase and Energy Storage Tolling agreements, and alternative revenue structures such as Development Asset Transfers and Build-Transfer Agreements. The ideal candidate brings commercial and regulatory experience in utility-scale solar and energy storage, along with a strong understanding of market dynamics and shifting trends in energy procurement among major offtakers.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Power Marketing and Origination, this role is responsible for data analysis, market research, and coordination with cross-functional teams to help prepare proposals and optimize origination strategies. Over time, the Analyst will develop experience across:

  • The development cycle of new utility-scale solar and energy storage projects
  • New market strategy for greenfield campaigns
  • Future procurement trends of major LSEs, including through Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs)
  • Evolving contracting mechanisms in the solar and storage space
  • Targeted M&A activity

Strong analytical skills, developing market knowledge, and the ability to communicate findings clearly are essential for success in this role. This position is expected to travel up to 10% of the time.

The employee may be required to perform other job-related duties as requested by management. All duties will be assigned in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support execution of client engagement and power marketing strategies across the U.S.
  • Maintain business-tracking systems, including CRM platforms, RFP trackers, and related tools.
  • Prepare or support preparation of presentations for executive and customer briefings.
  • Monitor, track, and summarize load-serving entities' integrated resource and procurement plans.
  • Monitor and help evaluate opportunities across U.S. markets – such as RFPs for potential renewable and energy storage projects and document and track them for future reference.
  • Coordinate proposal preparation in response to RFPs and bilateral opportunities by identifying, collecting, and organizing required information from subject matter experts across the organization.
  • Monitor public information on executed power purchase, tolling, build-transfer, and related agreements, and document relevant details in shared drive folders and trackers.
  • Monitor RTO and other market working groups for rule changes related to transmission rights, deliverability, and energy markets.
  • Monitor trade associations for relevant regulatory and market developments and share information across the team and organization as appropriate.
  • Assist in modeling and evaluating the impact of market design and topological changes – such as new generation, new storage, and transmission buildouts on procurement opportunities and future energy prices.
  • Support forecasting of nodal/zonal and OTC energy prices for RTO and bilateral markets across long-term time horizons using fundamental and third-party models and services.
  • Participate as appropriate in standing and ad hoc internal and external meetings.
  • Communicate clearly and succinctly with audiences of different backgrounds during meetings and presentations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business, engineering, sustainability, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of relevant work experience in the electric utility industry's regulatory or commercial sector.
  • Familiarity with CRM applications and industry platforms such as F1, Procore, LevelTen, Aurora, NPM, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Coursework in at least one of the following areas: power system analysis, power system economics, power system operations and planning, optimization, data analysis, or object-oriented programming. If no relevant coursework, relevant work experience is also considered.
  • Working knowledge of organized and bilateral electricity markets across the U.S.; familiarity with at least one ISO/RTO market is preferred.
