Job summary

Wood Mackenzie is seeking a Market Analyst to join the Power Trading Analytics (PTA) team in Boston. You will develop short‑term power outlooks using proprietary and public data to drive client decisions in North American markets.

Contribute to models, forecasts, and risk analyses; collaborate with experienced analysts; and present insights to clients. A relevant economics/finance background and 2+ years in power/trading are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, math, stats, or energy related discipline.
• At least 2 years of business or professional work experience in power/trading.
• Ability to lead and train entry-level associates.
• Commitment to contributing to an inclusive environment and equity in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operational tasks with the Market Associate/Analyst group.
• Ensure high-quality forecasts and analytics are provided to customers.
• Operate models and tools daily that include spatial, data visualization, and power flow applications.
• Communicate current-day/Next-day operational and financial risk to asset owners and traders.
• Provide insights and risks for longer-term congestion patterns and outages through quarterly outlooks.
• Own initiatives related to efficiencies and products outside routine tasks.
• Run regional support workbooks daily and improve granularity for the team and customers.
• Manipulate large datasets and identify correlations between market drivers, prices, and events.
• Automate critical tasks using macros (Visual Basic/Python).
• Present research projects to ISO desk, leaders, and decision-makers.
