Job summary

Perdue Farms, Inc. is seeking a Powered Industrial Vehicle Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair forklifts, pallet jacks, cherry pickers, and reach trucks.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic issues and perform routine maintenance to keep vehicles operating safely and efficiently. This role requires close collaboration with Warehouse, Operations and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years in vehicle maintenance, especially PIVs.
• Strong skills diagnosing/measuring mechanical/electrical/hydraulic problems.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect powered industrial vehicles regularly and diagnose issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance: battery care, parts replacement, fluid checks.
• Repair components such as brakes, belts, bearings, chains and hydraulics.
• Calibrate vehicle parts for optimal performance and safety.

Summary

As a Powered Industrial Vehicle Technician your primary role is to inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of powered industrial vehicles such as forklifts, pallet jacks, cherry pickers, and reach trucks, etc. You will troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic issues, perform routine maintenance tasks, and ensure that all vehicles are operating safely and efficiently. Collaborating with Warehouse, Operations, and Maintenance, you will help minimize downtime, maximize productivity, and maintain a safe work environment. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, a commitment to safety is essential to the success in this role.

This position is eligible for a $10,000 Hiring Bonus payable in installments over your first 12 months of employment. Terms and conditions apply.

Monday through Friday, 7:30-5:30

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspects powered industrial vehicles regularly to identify and address mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic issues. Diagnoses and troubleshoots electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical problems in forklifts, pallet jacks and other PIV equipment. Documents maintenance and repair activities in service logs and computer systems.
• Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as, battery replacement, battery chargers, chains, belts, oil changes, filter replacements, bearings, rollers, and fluid checks. Repairs and replaces faulty components, including brakes, bearings, chains, rollers, fluid, etc. Follow manufacturer guidelines and maintenance schedules for each type of PIV.
• Adjusts and calibrates vehicle parts to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Conducts safety inspections to comply with regulations and prevent accidents. Tests vehicle systems following repairs.
• Requests accurate ordering of replacement parts.
• Communicates with Warehouse, Operations and Maintenance to understand equipment issues and prioritize repairs.
• Keeps work areas clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
• Participates in training programs to stay up to date on new technologies and industry best practices.
• Works all required work schedules.

Preferred Education and Experience

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED High School Diploma or GED and Equivalent Experience. 3-5 Years experience in vehicle maintenance, particularly with powered industrial vehicles. Strong proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on industrial vehicles. Understanding of safety regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and maintenance procedures specific to power industrial vehicles. Ability to troubleshoot issues, make repairs efficiently and ensure vehicles are operating safely. Attention to detail in documentation. Clear communication skills and ability to influence others. Maintains Perdue Farms QEW Certification. Commitment to Continuous Learning to achieve increasing levels of expertise.

Preferred:

2-yr Technical Degree in Engineering or Industrial Maintenance

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, reaching overhead and/or at shoulder level, lifting (50 lbs.) and/or repetitive tasks throughout the day. Position requires occasional moving to other offices or buildings. Day travel to nearby locations sometimes required. May need to access files, supplies, and equipment.

When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing plant.
