Job summary

Duke Energy in Florida is seeking a Generation Technician Trainee to support the maintenance of plant equipment and systems at Power Generation facilities. You will troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on turbines, generators, and related components.

This role requires a journeyman skill in Mechanical or Certified Welder Mechanic, plus progression in additional disciplines; travel around 50% is expected and relocation may be offered as applicable.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• GT-Trainee must possess a journeyman skill in either Mechanical or Certified Welder Mechanic.
• GT1 must possess Journeyman skill AND progression level proficiency in one additional discipline.
• 1.5 years related experience.
• GT2 must possess Journeyman skill AND progression in two additional disciplines.
• 3 years related experience.
• In lieu of a mechanic or certified welder mechanic journeyman skill, 2-years military experience or technical school certificate may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, repair and maintenance to facility equipment, systems and components.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and operate plant equipment.
• Perform corrective and preventive tasks on plant equipment.
• Interpret design drawings and O&M manuals to locate trouble.
• Complete work with required testing and return systems to operation.
