Job summary

Sargent Electric is seeking a Site Safety Manager to support a major power generation project in Creston, Iowa. You will lead the site safety program, provide technical safety guidance to leadership and field personnel, and ensure compliance with OSHA and NFPA 70E standards.

You will also help develop JHAs/AHAs and safety work plans, deliver orientation and ongoing training, and drive a proactive safety culture across project teams and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience in electrical contracting, utility, renewable energy, power generation or heavy industrial construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead and administer the project-specific health and safety program.
• Serve as the primary safety resource for project leadership, field personnel, subcontractors, and client representatives.
• Deliver site-specific safety orientation, training, and ongoing workforce development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, client requirements, and company safety policies.
• Conduct routine field observations, site inspections, and compliance audits to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
• Support incident investigations, determine root causes, and develop effective corrective actions.
• Assist in the development and review of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and safe work plans.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, employee engagement, and behavior-based safety initiatives.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular feedback and reporting to project and regional leadership.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and targeted training programs.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure safety considerations are integrated into all phases of construction.
