Job summary

Pike Corporation is seeking an entry-level engineer/tech support to assist our Engineering team in designing safe, reliable power distribution solutions. The role blends office and field work, offering hands-on experience with design software and project documentation under regional leadership.

You will learn and apply fundamentals, attend trainings, and contribute to project packages, drawings, material lists, estimates, and requisitions in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Associate degree may be required for some projects.
• 0–2 years of experience in power distribution, electrical craft work, or GIS/CAD-related tasks.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work on site.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of complete project packages including drawings, material lists, estimates, and requisitions.
• Prepare project and job packages using company and client design software and work management tools.
• Provide regular project status updates and build relationships with internal/external partners.
• Engage in ongoing learning and mentorship with engineers and supervisors.
• Participate in storm restoration activities as needed.

Position Overview

This is an entry-level position that supports our Engineering team and reports directly to regional operational leadership. The role includes a combination of office and field work, providing hands‑on experience applying technical skills to help design safe, reliable, and cost‑effective solutions for power distribution projects. You should be comfortable learning design tools, following company and client workflows and procedures, accurately entering data, and developing a foundational understanding of each project's technical requirements.

Essential Functions

• This role requires regular on-site attendance and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
• Interpret and comply with all applicable codes, regulations, policies, and procedures while maintaining accurate, well‑organized project documentation.
• Support Project Design & Preparation: Assist with the development of complete project and job packages, including drawings, material lists, estimates, and requisitions, using company and client design software and work management tools.
• Develop Technical Field & Construction Knowledge: Prepare comprehensive project and job packages - such as drawings, material lists, estimates, and requisitions - while utilizing company and client design software and work management tools.
• Provide regular project status updates and build strong working relationships with internal and external partners to ensure expectations, timelines, and business objectives are met.
• Engage in Continuous Learning & Mentorship: Actively build technical, design, and field knowledge through ongoing training and mentorship from experienced team members, supervisors, and Professional Engineers.
• Participate in storm restoration activities as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• Regular attendance is required.
• High school diploma or GED (Certain client projects or contractual requirements may require an Associate degree from a two - year college or technical school).
• 0-2 years of experience in power distribution engineering, electrical craft work, or GIS/CAD-related work.

Other Abilities

• Valid driver's license and vehicle suitable for business use (mileage reimbursement may apply).

Physical Demands

This role involves primarily office‑based work with regular sitting and frequent use of hands for computer and tool handling, and talking and hearing throughout the day.
