Job summary

Heron Power Inc. is a startup advancing power electronics for the modern grid. The Power Electronics Test & Validation Engineer will own testing of the SST platform across data centers, BESS, and PV use cases.

You will bring up hardware in lab and pilot sites, write scripts to drive test equipment, and debug performance against application demands, collaborating with SW/FW teams to turn findings into improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in power electronics or hardware-intensive environments.
• Strong DC circuit fundamentals: resonances, parasitics, slew rates, inductive spikes.
• Proficient in scripting and test-automation to drive instruments and log data.
• Working knowledge of power conversion, battery systems, BMS, DC pre-charge and protection.
• Familiar with lab instrumentation and protocols CAN and Modbus TCP.
• Scrappy mindset with initiative

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end testing of a high C-rate battery pack with SST and validate performance.
• Support SST and utility-scale BESS integration testing at pilot sites.
• Assist integration testing with DAS, SCADA and EMS systems.
• Lead first pilot deployments; review field performance with SW/FW teams.
• Develop and maintain Python-based test automation for power converters and data logging.
• Set up cabling, instrumentation, and data acquisition for high-power tests.
