Job summary

Leonardo DRS, Inc.’s Naval Power Systems unit in Bethel, CT, seeks a Systems Engineer II to support the design and development of power electronics systems, review customer specifications, and contribute to RTMs and budgeting for proposals.

The role involves architecture development, verification through simulation and lab testing, and coordinating tasks within the engineering team to meet cost, schedule, and technical objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of detailed design experience in power applications.
• Experience with MATLAB for simulating electrical systems.
• Model-based design experience preferred.
• Experience with Navy/defense applications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications and requirements, supporting design development with cost as a design variable.
• Develop architectures for power electronics, drives, and uninterruptible power supplies.
• Contribute to system-level documentation and budget estimates for proposals; track risks and mitigation plans.
• Verify performance via simulation, analysis, and laboratory testing under guidance of technical leads.
• Maintain design requirements using an RTM for components and subsystems.
• Support project execution by completing tasks, communicating status, and coordinating with engineers to meet cost, schedule, and objectives.
