Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a motivated Power Electronics Engineer to advance medium-voltage VSD systems for industrial use worldwide. The role offers exposure to power electronics, motor control, real-time simulation, and system integration across marine, LNG, offshore platforms, and other critical installations.

Responsibilities cover design, validation, HIL testing, and on-site commissioning while collaborating with senior engineers to meet application requirements and field constraints.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 0–5 years of experience in power electronics, electrical drives, or motor control.
  • Strong understanding of electrical machines, transformers, and three-phase power systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge of power electronic converters such as rectifiers and inverters.
  • Familiarity with control theory and motor control concepts.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for commissioning and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Support design and sizing of drive system components (transformers, front ends, power bridges, filters).
  • Assist development and validation of motor control and power converter control algorithms.
  • Develop and maintain simulation models for power electronics and drives.
  • Participate in HIL testing and real-time simulation to verify performance.
  • Support software integration and testing in labs and production.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on control sequences based on requirements.
  • Analyze test results and contribute to root-cause analyses and fixes.
  • Participate in system integration and performance validation.
  • Provide technical support during commissioning and startup at customer sites.
  • Travel occasionally to support field activities on marine vessels and offshore platforms.
