Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent.
  • 4+ years analog power electronics, power supply circuitry, and circuit protection.
  • 4+ years developing power component specifications, verification plans, root cause analysis.
  • 4+ years of server power system design.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Power Electronics preferred.
  • 7+ years of server power experience for cloud/enterprise.
  • Strong DC-DC switch mode power supplies, protection, and multi‑phase VRs on motherboards.
  • I2C, PMBUS, SVID, sensors, and monitoring experience.
  • PCB design review with Allegro or CAM350.

As a member of the AWS Board Core Design & Services team you will own next‑generation server components. You will have demonstrated results in the architecture and development of components used in servers, in areas such as motherboards, graphics, accelerators, and programmable hardware. You will interact with an interdisciplinary team of engineers to design, develop, validate, and launch at large scale. You’ll provide leadership in the application of new technologies to servers in a continuous effort to deliver and improve a world‑class customer experience. This is a fast‑paced, intellectually challenging position. You will work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. You have high standards for yourself and everyone you work with. You will be constantly looking for ways to improve performance, quality, and cost. A day in the life

Hardware engineers within AWS Board Core Design & Services team could be working in a variety of areas; few examples would be: hardware design and development; building the systems that validate hardware quality in manufacturing; monitoring and improving hardware reliability in data centers and platform. We cover everything from low level hardware to embedded software and systems that operate and monitor it. There is no blueprint for how to do what we do, which encourages our engineers to identify and develop simple solutions to complex problems. We encourage durable solutions that look around corners while taking into consideration our customer needs from a cost, performance, and reliability perspective.

About the team

Within AWS Board Core Design & Services team, our organization is responsible for system innovation in the servers used by all of Amazon Web Services. Beyond product delivery we actively manage the fleet of Servers in the data centre that keeps growing. This means tracking key business and operational metrics to ensure that we operate smoothly and minimise or eliminate customer impact due to device related issues for a transparent AWS customer experience.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience with analog power electronics, power supply circuitry, and circuit protection
  • 4+ years of experience in developing power component functional specifications, design verification plans, root cause analysis, and resolution
  • 4+ years of experience in server power system design
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Power Electronics Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in server power for cloud, enterprise, or other large‑scale applications
  • Strong expertise in DC‑DC switch mode power supplies, circuit protection, and multi‑phase CPU/memory VRs on motherboards
  • Experience with I2C, PMBUS, SVID, sensors, and monitoring
  • Experience guiding and reviewing PCB designs with Allegro, CAM350, or equivalent.
  • Experience developing detailed specifications, selection criteria, test plans, analysing component reliability and creating design flows
  • Strong organisational, planning, writing, and communications skills
  • Desire to work in a fast‑paced environment with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

The base salary range for this position is USD 157,300.00 – 212,800.00 annually.
