Overview

Power Electronics Engineer — Location: New Freedom, Pennsylvania, USA. Employment Type: Contract or Full-Time. Compensation: Contract Rate up to $55/hour; Full-Time Salary up to $100,000/year.

About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Power Electronics Engineer to design, analyze, and validate power electronic systems for advanced industrial and energy applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in inverter design, motor control, thermal analysis, and hands-on hardware development.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop front-end power converters and inverter circuits.
  • Perform power circuit simulations and analysis using appropriate tools.
  • Develop and validate HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) platforms for power electronics systems.
  • Design and characterize inverter switching devices and power modules.
  • Perform thermal calculations, thermal modeling, and structural characterization.
  • Support hardware design, prototyping, bring-up, and testing activities.
  • Conduct measurements using diagnostic and lab instrumentation.
  • Perform design verification, validation, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with control, firmware, and mechanical engineering teams.
  • Support continuous improvement and design optimization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in power electronics engineering.
  • Strong experience in front-end converter and inverter design.
  • Knowledge of IPM motor control systems.
  • Experience in power electronics circuit simulation and analysis.
  • Experience developing HIL platforms for power electronics circuits.
  • Strong understanding of inverter topologies and switching devices.
  • Experience with thermal analysis and characterization of power electronic structures.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware design, prototyping, and testing.
  • Proficiency with measurement and diagnostic instruments (oscilloscope, power analyzer, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with automotive, HVAC, or industrial drive systems.
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI considerations in power electronics.
  • Knowledge of control algorithms for motor drives.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or similar tools.
