Delta Electronics (Americas) Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated Power Electronics Engineer to perform R&D for next‑generation datacenter power solutions and extreme fast DC charging. The role is based at the Milan M.

Jovanović Power Electronics Lab, located in Research Triangle Park, NC, with collaboration across global teams. You will develop high‑power converter topologies, simulate and test prototypes, and partner with R&D and product groups to validate concepts for scalable energy systems.

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of circuit topologies and soft-switching techniques in power converters.
  • Hands-on experience designing, debugging and testing power converters.
  • Familiarity with control theory and digital controller implementation.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, SIMPLIS, PLECS, Cadence for simulation and design.
  • Understanding of high‑frequency magnetic components and multi‑physics simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of high‑voltage insulation concepts and e‑field mitigation techniques.

  • Perform advanced R&D, development, and testing of high‑power, medium‑voltage power electronics technologies.
  • Collaborate with R&D and product teams to propose new power solutions and analyze trade‑offs.

Job description

Delta Electronics (Americas) Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and creative Power Electronics Engineer with broad knowledge and experience to perform R&D projects for the next‑generation datacenter power solutions and extreme fast DC charging. You will be working at the Milan M. Jovanović Power Electronics Lab, located in Research Triangle Park, NC.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced research, development, and testing of power electronics technologies for high‑power, medium‑voltage applications.
  • Work closely with R&D and product development teams to propose new power solutions, analyze trade‑offs, and run test verification.
  • Build and maintain technical competency in high‑power electronics for medium‑voltage systems.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Deep knowledge in circuit topologies, soft‑switching techniques, modeling and control of various types of power converters.
  • Hands‑on experience in designing, debugging, and testing power converters.
  • Familiarity with control theory and implementation using digital controllers.
  • Proficiency in power‑electronics simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, SIMPLIS, PLECS, and Cadence.
  • Solid understanding of high‑frequency magnetic component design and multi‑physics simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of high‑voltage insulation concepts and e‑field mitigation techniques.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
  • Solid understanding of multi‑level converters and their applications.
  • Solid understanding of wide band gap power semiconductor device characteristics, driving circuitry and protection.
  • Familiarity with power architectures for EV charging, datacenters, renewable energy and energy storage systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards for power‑electronics converter design.
  • Knowledge and experience with insulation design for power converters.
  • Knowledge and experience with protection circuits such as DC circuit breakers.
Education and Application
  • M.S. degree or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering (fresh and experienced candidates are welcome).
  • Prospective candidates should possess excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be self‑motivated and able to work independently as well as collaborate with other team members locally and abroad.
