Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville, IL is seeking a Power Electronics Core Component Development Engineer to support full-cycle development of sub‑components for the e‑powertrain, including power modules, capacitors, sensors, busbars and related hardware.
You will collaborate across engineering teams to drive testing, evaluation and supplier engagement. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with high-power components, traction inverter knowledge, and strong analytical and communication skills to
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Hands-on experience with high-power, high-reliability electric-drive components.
- Solid understanding of traction inverters and power modules.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-current and high-voltage component testing to verify reqs.
- Plan tests, document procedures, set up fixtures, execute testing, analyze data, report findings.
- Review engineering drawings, technical requirements, and specifications.
- Apply quality tools (FMEA, APQP, PPAP) to support development and readiness.
- Collaborate with system teams, SMEs, NPI/NTI leads, validation teams.
- Support supplier development through evaluations, collaboration, and issue resolution.
