Job summary

Seattle City Light is seeking safety-focused Power Dispatchers for the System Operations Center in Seattle. The role involves coordinating with field crews, customer service, and substation operators to maintain grid integrity and respond to outages.

Qualifications

  • Requires two years performing the work of an Assistant Power Dispatcher with scheduling training.
  • Current Washington State Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Completion of four-year accredited Electrical Apprenticeship program plus two years journey-level experience in SCL's Constructor, Lineworker or Network Cable Splicer classifications.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute switching to maintain system integrity and restore normal operation.
  • Investigate alarms and outages; dispatch crews and inform staff as needed.
  • Issue clearances and manage routine and emergency switching
  • Maintain Power Dispatcher Logs and distribution system records
  • Monitor distribution systems using computer systems and operator reports
  • Answer customer calls regarding outages and abnormal conditions and dispatch crews when needed
