Job summary

Enbridge Inc. is seeking a Senior Power Development Engineer to provide technical leadership and commercial support for wind, solar, BESS, and gas generation opportunities across North America. You will drive due diligence, design standards, and execution strategies to maximize value from screening to operation.

The role requires a PE license (US/Canada preferred) and strong modelling/Excel skills. It offers a hybrid work model, travel across NA, and competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the power sector with complex project development.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada; US PE preferred.
  • Experience developing/assessing wind, solar, BESS, and natural gas projects; standards across multiple gen techs.
  • Technical expertise in natural gas generation including self-power and simple-cycle design.
  • Gas power plant modelling tools like Thermoflex or AxsCYCLE; advanced Excel analysis is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, and risk assessment abilities.
  • Effective communicator across disciplines and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical due diligence and development for wind, solar, BESS, and gas projects; exercise independent judgment.
  • Develop and maintain asset specs, standards, and technical requirements; incorporate new tech and best practices.
  • Create design basis documents and execution strategies for stage-gate progression.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks to improve economics and asset performance.
  • Collaborate with BD, Engineering, Major Projects, Supply Chain, and Operations on design and execution.
  • Prepare technical specs and scopes for EPC/EC providers; provide input throughout development and execution.

Working collaboratively across the organization, you will help ensure projects are technically sound, commercially competitive, and aligned with Enbridge's long-term operating requirements.If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoy solving complex technical and commercial challenges, we encourage you to apply today!**What You Will Do:*** Lead technical due diligence and development activities for a portfolio of wind, solar, BESS, and natural gas generation projects, exercising independent technical judgement and technical endorsement of project layout, energy performance, equipment selection, constructability, and operational considerations.* Develop, maintain, and enhance asset specifications, design standards, and technical requirements while incorporating lessons learned, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.* Develop conceptual designs, design basis documents, execution strategies, performance expectations, and technical requirements to advance projects through Enbridge's stage-gate development process.* Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks while supporting project screening, economic evaluations, business cases, and investment recommendations to improve project economics, reliability, and long-term asset performance.* Collaborate with Business Development, Engineering, Major Projects, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure project designs and execution strategies meet operational, maintenance, health, safety, and environmental requirements.* Support the preparation of technical specifications and scopes of work for engineering, procurement, and construction service providers and provide technical input throughout project development and execution.* Build and maintain relationships with developers, engineering consultants, OEMs, EPC contractors, industry associations, and other stakeholders, representing Enbridge at industry events and stakeholder engagements as required.**Who You Are:*** Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.* Minimum of 7 years of experience in the power sector, with demonstrated success advancing complex projects through development and construction phases.* Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, per applicable jurisdiction.
