Job summary

Leidos is seeking experienced Project Managers for their Strategic Program Consulting team within the Power Delivery Solutions division. This hybrid position will primarily focus on project management services for a large electric utility client in the greater Kentucky area, including Louisville.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, at least 3 years of experience in the Electric Utility sector, and strong leadership skills. Compensation ranges from $73,450 - $132,775.

Overview

Leidos Engineering is seeking experienced Project Managers to join our Strategic Program Consulting team within the Power Delivery Solutions division. The role involves working with engineering managers and account managers to provide Project Management Services for a large electric utility client, primarily within the greater Kentucky area, including Louisville, Lexington and Cincinnati. This is a hybrid position with remote working capabilities and periodic travel to client sites throughout the Kentucky area.

Responsibilities
  • Lead electric utility project execution teams across a diverse set of contributors—Engineering, Construction, Permitting, Siting, Environmental, Cost Controls, and Scheduling—to deliver comprehensive capital transmission substation projects.
  • Take ownership of overall portfolio performance, including cost, schedule, and scope management.
  • Interface with clients and internal stakeholders to address issues, report progress, and mitigate risks across the project portfolio.
  • Mentor and develop project management staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Manage monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable processes.
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities to support organizational growth.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and quality control standards.
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including clients, project teams, subcontractors, and support personnel.
  • Identify project risks and mitigation strategies.
Background Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of progressive Project Management experience within the Electric Utility Industry; experience as a Project Manager directly at an electric utility is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with U.S. Electric Utilities and a comprehensive understanding of electric power and infrastructure projects.
  • Direct experience working with electric power infrastructure projects.
  • Supervisory experience, including team building and talent acquisition.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on portfolio management and team development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel periodically as required.
  • Proficiency utilizing Primavera P6 or MS Project with a heavy emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven knowledge of PowerPlan enterprise project performance software preferred.
  • Previous experience with Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities as a customer is preferred, but not required.

  • PMP Certification or willingness to obtain within two years.
  • Prior experience in a leadership position.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience with PowerBI and/or visualization tools.
Pay Range

Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
