Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company in McCalla, AL seeks a seasoned Power & Controls Leader to guide plant electrical & instrumentation systems, mentor technicians, and drive reliability and efficiency improvements across Bakery or Sandwhich Making lines.

Responsibilities include standards development, NFPA/OSHA compliance, MES data validation, and coordinating with Controls Engineering leadership on capital projects.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or technical degree preferred; Associates acceptable
• Minimum 4 years of controls experience
• 1–3 years of leadership experience in supervision or project roles
• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience
• Mechanical and electrical experience in food manufacturing preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary admin and troubleshooter for plant power and control systems
• Develop and sustain E&I skill development; mentor technicians
• Develop power and control standards; ensure field application
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 70/70e/79 and OSHA 1910
• Validate MES data from PLC into Proficy; aid data conditioning
• Own sustainability metering equipment and reduce energy use
• Design and implement control systems, HMI, MES apps and KPIs
• Identify losses with leadership to eliminate safety, quality, reliability costs
• Oversee selection/start-up of new equipment; train others on controls
• Manage E&I projects from initiation to completion
• Provide support across plant operations as needed
• Learn and apply advanced control, simulation and process modeling
