Job summary

Cyberstrike: People Powering Government in the Philadelphia area is seeking a Power Controls Engineer to support naval defense programs on shipboard power systems and related testing environments.

You’ll contribute to design, controls, and testing efforts, collaborate across disciplines, and gain hands-on experience with real ships and live programs. U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of experience with power electronics (rectifiers, inverters, converters, transformers, IGBTs, harmonic filters, UPS, controllers, or relays).
• Hands-on background in at least one of: Design, Controls, or Testing.
• Strong communication skills; able to speak clearly about hands-on experience.
• U.S. Citizenship required (eligibility for security clearance).

Want to work on the systems that keep U.S. Navy ships powered and mission-ready? We're hiring a Power Controls Engineer to join a team supporting critical naval defense programs in the Philadelphia area.

If you don't have Navy or defense experience yet — no problem. This is a chance to break into one of the most stable, high-impact sectors in engineering: naval power systems that directly support fleet readiness. You'll get exposure to real ships, real testing environments, and real-world power control challenges you won't find in commercial industry.

What You'll Do

• Work on power electronics and controls supporting shipboard and industrial power systems
• Contribute to design, controls, and/or testing efforts depending on your strengths and interests
• Collaborate with engineers across design, controls, and test disciplines on live naval programs

What You Need

• BS in Electrical Engineering (required)
• 3+ years of experience with power electronics such as rectifiers, inverters, converters, transformers, IGBTs, harmonic filters, UPS, controllers, or relays
• Hands‑on background in at least one of: Design, Controls, or Testing
• Strong communication skills — able to speak clearly and confidently about your hands‑on experience
• U.S. Citizenship required (eligibility for security clearance)

Nice to Have (but not required)

• PLC programming, HMI programming, or MATLAB/Simulink — especially combined with networking experience
• Familiarity with virtual machines, containers, or cybersecurity
• An active security clearance

Work Arrangement

• Hybrid role based in the Philadelphia area
• Some project assignments may require more or less on‑site time depending on program phase
• Travel is generally light (roughly 0–25%) and depends on whether the role leans toward design, controls, or testing work — we’ll walk you through what to expect for your specific project

Compensation

• Competitive salary, $80K–$110K, based on experience
