This work involves collecting and analyzing performance/power data from real-world workloads, applying and extending control theory and estimation techniques — including multi-timescale constraint handling — to novel system problems, driving data-driven and predictive approaches to power allocation, cooperating with systems and software teams to characterize and analyze power/performance profiles, and evaluating power control algorithms based on the resulting insights.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and evolve power control algorithms across multiple product features and platforms
  • Independently investigate performance/power data from real-world workloads to identify architecture and algorithm improvements
  • Apply and extend control theory and estimation techniques, including multi-timescale constraint handling, to novel system problems
  • Lead cross-functional characterization of power/performance profiles with systems and software teams
  • Prototype and evaluate data-driven and predictive approaches to power allocation
  • Debug and resolve complex power control issues across simulation, bench, and field environments
