Job summary

Amphenol Corporation's Amphenol Communications Solutions division is seeking an entry-level Development Engineer to train in new product development for power electrical interconnects used in Datacom applications. You will receive one-on-one career development from experienced technical staff during the program.

Training areas include Electrical Connector Basics, Electrical Power Connectors, Simulation, Manufacturing Methods, and Product Testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related degree.
• 0-3 years of experience in connector design.
• General knowledge of 3D modeling using PTC Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) and/or SolidWorks.
• Ability to communicate well with Global Customers and all levels of the organization including Management, Marketing, Sales, Process Engineering, Test Lab personnel, other Engineers (local and global).
• Ability to prioritize, work to meet objectives and to manage multiple activities/projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop power connector solutions as required by the BU strategic roadmap.
• Complete engineering deliverables to ensure design verification.
• Design for Manufacturing
• Tolerance Analysis
• Product Simulations
• Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings
• Define Product, Application, and Packaging specifications
• Define verification and product qualification test plans
• Work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to support product transfer to manufacturing
