Job summary

Werner Electric Supply seeks a Power & Components Manager to lead Automation Specialists in delivering top-tier customer experiences during the buying journey. You will develop product knowledge, manage daily workflows, and coordinate launches with Marketing.

You will provide pre- and post-sales support, size components, present concepts, and ensure successful deployments. Travel within the territory is required; a drivers license is essential.

Qualifications

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel regularly through assigned territory; some overnight travel required.
  • Associate's degree in Automation, Engineering, Computer Science or related field; AND 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • 5–7 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience working directly with customers; delivering presentations and demonstrations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive product knowledge across platforms.
  • Lead day-to-day work of Automation Specialists.
  • Coordinate with Marketing for product launches.
  • Provide pre-sales support including BOMs, proofs of concepts, and sizing components.
  • Provide post-sales support including troubleshooting and training.
  • Log and manage customer opportunities in the CRM.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and Consultants in opportunities architecture.
  • Provide product-based training to internal teams.
  • Share information on new products and technology to customers.
  • Analyze competitive products and communicate differentiators.
  • Manage prioritization of billable services and field services.
  • Participate in annual operating plan planning meetings.
  • Attend relevant trade shows and events.

Job Summary

The Power & Components Manager leads the Automation Specialists in delivering an exceptional customer experience during the implementation and operation stages of the buying journey.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive product knowledge, including features, benefits, and applications across various platforms.
  • Responsible for managing and prioritizing day to day work of Automation Specialists.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing team to manage product launch activities, ensuring a seamless introduction to the market.
  • Provide pre-sales support to customers including: review of customer project specifications and documents, preparing and presenting bills of materials, proof of concepts, performance tests, and properly sizing and recommending components to solve application requirements.
  • Provide post-sales support to customers including: assisting with customer technical product issues, implementation troubleshooting, product training, and escalating issues to appropriate vendor partners if necessary.
  • Perform gap analysis to identify target customers for specific products and pursue those opportunities.
  • Utilize the customer relationship manager (CRM) tool to log and manage customer opportunities, tasks, customer interactions, and support responses from customers.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Business Consultants, and Solution Consultants in opportunity pursuits by defining the best products for the identified solution architecture.
  • Proactively facilitate and provide product-based training to internal teams including Sales and Customer Experience.
  • Proactively provide customers relevant information on new products and technology related to their industry and application needs.
  • Analyze competitive product lines and communicate competitive product differentiators for customers.
  • Manage prioritization of Werner billable services including: installed base evaluations, network assessments, drive startups, and vulnerability discovery surveys, field services, and technical training.
  • Participate in annual operating plan (AOP) planning meetings providing insights related to customer performance, commercial activities and upcoming product introductions.
  • Participate in relevant trade shows and events.
Required Qualifications
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Associate's degree in Automation, Engineering, Computer Science or other related field; AND
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Prior experience delivering presentations and demonstrations.
  • Proven experience managing and self-directing workload.
  • Ability to stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Automation, Engineering, Computer Science or other related field is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising a team of direct reports.
  • Previous experience working with a customer relations management (CRM) software preferred.
  • Prior experience working as field service technician is a plus.
