Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Carpenter who will construct and repair wood and wallboard fixtures in compliance with local codes and general construction practices. The role involves reading blueprints, building decks and structures, forming and finishing concrete elements, and supporting the crew to maintain quality and safety on site.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of carpentry experience, with certification preferred.

• Ability to work with precision, visualize objects from drawings, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Set up trailers and study blueprints/sketches to determine material requirements.
• Build decks, stairs, roofs, and other temporary structures; install shelves and site setups.
• Hand-set forms and assemble gang forms; assist with shooting grades and elevations.
• Unload, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials; perform rough carpentry and finishing work.
• Support journeyman and foreman with measurements and framing tasks.
• Build relationships across diverse teams and perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Carpenter that will be responsible for the construction and repair of wood and wallboard fixtures in compliance with local building codes and general construction principals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up trailers
• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine material requirements and measure dimensions
• Build decks, stairs, roofs, and other temporary structures; install shelves, setup tool trailers/conex's, silt fences/straw bales, and setup site per erosion control plan
• Hand-set forms and assemble gang forms
• Assist journeyman and foreman with shooting grades and elevations
• Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials
• Perform concrete and rough carpentry (hand set walls, footings, gang wall forms, structural concrete decks, drywall, finish carpentry, doors, frames, hardware, millwork, and cabinetry)
• Build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels; perform all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of two (2) years carpentry experience
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma preferred
• Ability to work with precision, visualize solid objects from drawings, and speak and understand English
• Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, and effective communication including active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
