Job Title: PowerBuilder Developer

Location: Remote (Must reside in Minnesota, USA)

Employment Type: W2 Contract

Hourly Rate: $55 $65/hr

Duration: Long-term

Work Hours: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM Central Time, Monday to Friday

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced PowerBuilder Developer to support and modernize legacy systems for a Minnesota government agency. This role requires a candidate with deep expertise in PowerBuilder development and related technologies, capable of maintaining and enhancing existing applications while contributing to future-state modernization initiatives. This is a remote-only opportunity, strictly open to residents of Minnesota.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with MNIT staff and business stakeholders to address system bugs, enhancements, and new feature development in existing PowerBuilder applications
• Perform hands-on coding, troubleshooting, and maintenance of legacy applications using PowerBuilder and PL/SQL
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and stand-ups
• Execute unit and code testing based on standard procedures and quality guidelines
• Support QA and UAT efforts, including debugging, defect tracking, and resolution
• Engage in code reviews and provide feedback aligned with best practices
• Utilize Git for source control and follow established change and release management processes
• Contribute to efforts aimed at transitioning legacy systems to modern platforms (e.g., Java, Angular, React)
• Provide documentation, training, and knowledge transfer to internal state staff
• Accurately estimate development tasks and report progress, roadblocks, or delays in a timely manner
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• 7 10 years of hands-on experience in PowerBuilder development
• Strong experience with PL/SQL and Oracle relational databases
• Familiarity with PFC (PowerBuilder Foundation Classes) libraries
• Proven experience in client-server environments (PowerBuilder, VB, Delphi)
• Solid knowledge of SQL for CRUD operations and view creation
• Experience with Git or similar version control tools
• Ability to quickly understand and work with complex, undocumented legacy code
• Exposure to modern front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue is a plus
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Previous experience working on government or public-sector projects is advantageous
