Position Summary

Teksouth is seeking a Power BI Specialist to architect, design, and implement best-in-class business intelligence solutions. This role operates at the intersection of business, analytics, and design-turning complex requirements into clear, compelling visualizations. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI and the Power BI ecosystem, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable insights. Responsibilities

• Build Power BI reports from the ground up while maintaining and enhancing existing reports.
• Own the report-building process: identify data sources, design architecture and data models, implement Power Query and DAX calculations, and design data visualizations tailored to audience needs.
• Monitor Microsoft Power BI release blogs to leverage updates and strategize around deprecated features.
• Implement customer requirements into Power BI reports and validate results.
• Incorporate a variety of data sources, including CSV, SQL Server, Dataverse, data flows, parquet, and data bricks.
• Work with Power BI Service to manage report audiences, security groups, and row-level security.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to determine reporting needs and provide subject-matter expertise.
• Participate in meetings, task groups, and reviews to support collaborative outcomes.
• Review deliverables for quality, completeness, and compliance with regulations and customer requirements.
• Establish and maintain a data and analytics strategy.
• Engage in agile prototyping to demonstrate solutions and explore innovative approaches to complex use cases.
• Design compelling, user-friendly dashboards using data storytelling techniques.
• Provide guidance, best practices, and standards for sustainable analytic solutions.

Qualifications

• Must have an active Secret security clearance.
• MS/MA degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or BS/BA degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or 10 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Power BI.
• Proficiency with ETL processes, Power Query, and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
• Strong background in business intelligence, information management, consulting, or related fields with specialization in data visualization.
• Demonstrated ability to lead project tasks, analyze problems, define requirements, and recommend solutions.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across a large organization with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of dashboard design best practices to ensure usability and consistency.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
• Commitment to continuous learning with a coaching mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Business requirement gathering and analysis.
• Familiarity with generating documentation of solutions, processes, and checklists.
• DoD financial management experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• PL-300 certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
