Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support a Business Intelligence (BI) program. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Power BI development, data modeling, DAX, data source connectivity, Power BI Service, and report optimization. The candidate should also be comfortable gathering requirements, collaborating with business and technical teams, and presenting data insights to non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Requirements Gathering

• Collaborate with business users and data analysts to understand reporting, visualization, and data requirements.
• Identify relevant data sources, attributes, and business logic for Power BI solutions.
• Analyze and reverse engineer existing Excel-based processes, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and manual data analysis.
• Recommend process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and logic optimizations.

Data Modeling

• Design and document conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Develop reusable semantic data models within Power BI.
• Create and optimize relationships between tables and data structures.
• Implement row-level and column-level security within Power BI semantic models.
• Use Tabular Editor Best Practice Analyzer to follow Power BI modeling and DAX best practices.

Data Source Connectivity

• Connect Power BI to multiple data sources, including:

Report & Dashboard Development

• Design and develop interactive Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Build effective visualizations, slicers, drill-through functionality, and interactive reporting solutions.
• Work with streaming and ArcGIS visuals where required.
• Analyze and optimize report performance and recommend improvements to the underlying data model.
• Utilize DAX Studio and Power BI performance tools for troubleshooting and optimization.

Power BI Service & Deployment

• Publish and manage Power BI reports and dashboards in Power BI Service.
• Configure access controls and security.
• Manage automated data refresh schedules.
• Optimize reports and semantic models for large datasets.
• Follow established source-control and version-control processes for Power BI files.
• Utilize Azure DevOps as appropriate for development and deployment processes.

AI & Emerging Technologies

• Utilize AI tools to enhance reporting, data analysis, and development workflows.
• Familiarity with Google AI tools is a plus.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work effectively with cross-functional business, data, integration, and technology teams.
• Explain technical concepts and Power BI solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Present complex data insights in a clear and understandable manner.
• Participate in meetings, screen-sharing sessions, working sessions, and backlog discussions.
