Job summary

TECKpert seeks a Power BI Developer to support a state government agency in Tallahassee, Florida. This onsite role requires candidates located in or near Tallahassee, FL. You will build Power BI dashboards and paginated reports, connect to IBM DB2 sources, and modernize legacy reporting for a statewide system.

You will translate legacy queries to T-SQL, design dataflows, and collaborate with DBAs and business users to deliver actionable insights. Prior BI and Power BI experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Business Intelligence.
• At least 2 years of experience developing dashboards and reports in Power BI.
• Experience developing paginated reports in Power BI.
• Experience with IBM DB2 databases.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Well versed in data governance best practices.
• Familiarity with data management concepts such as Data Warehousing, ODS, Data Lakes, and MDMM.
• Experience creating reports presenting financial data such as general ledger or revenue data.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the current data environment and data structures to determine necessary transformations prior to developing dashboards.
• Partner with management to develop an overall reporting roadmap for the organization.
• Analyze existing reports and work with business users to determine how reports can be improved based on current business needs.
• Work with developers and end users to automate data transformation, reducing reliance on pivot tables and analysis in Excel.
• Read and document WebFOCUS and Mainframe FOCUS queries and convert them to T-SQL queries.
• Collaborate with database administrators to create database views and stored procedures that facilitate Power BI report development.
• Create dataflows in Power BI and provide administration of the Power BI dedicated workspace.
• Analyze financial data and make recommendations to improve the data model of financial systems.
• Train comptroller office staff on using Power BI reports.

The project

TECKpert seeks to hire a Power BI Developer to support our client, a state government agency in Tallahassee, FL. The role involves building Microsoft Power BI dashboards and paginated reports to replace legacy financial data extract reports as the agency prepares to transition to a modernized statewide accounting system. The developer will work directly with IBM DB2 data sources, convert legacy mainframe and WebFOCUS queries to T-SQL, design dataflows, and partner with business users and database administrators to turn raw financial transaction data into actionable management decision support.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Analyze the current data environment and data structures to determine necessary transformations prior to developing dashboards.

Compensation and Term

This opportunity is for a full-time position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $145,000 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.

Candidates are expected to work onsite at our client's location.

Qualifications you need

A successful candidate possesses or provides the following:

• Bachelor's Degree in a field of study related to technology or finance. Work experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Business Intelligence.
• At least 2 years of experience developing dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI.
• Experience developing paginated reports in Power BI.
• Experience with IBM DB2 databases.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Well versed in data governance best practices.
• Familiarity with data management concepts such as Data Warehousing, Operational Data Stores, Data Lakes, and Master Data Management.
• Experience creating reports presenting financial data such as general ledger, purchasing, or revenue data.
• Familiarity with advanced data structures such as OLAP cubes and Star/Snowflake schema.
• Knowledge of how Power BI integrates with other Microsoft tools such as Power Automate, Power Apps, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• Understanding of how to implement solutions with multiple data sources.
• Knowledge of mainframe flat files.
• Knowledge of the Scrum framework.
• Preferred: Experience with Oracle Data Warehouse, knowledge of mainframe programming languages, knowledge of financial systems such as an ERP, and experience with WebFOCUS.
