Job summary

STI Federal is seeking a skilled Power Apps Developer to design, build, and maintain low-code solutions supporting NIWC Atlantic. You will deliver secure, scalable Power Apps applications aligned with DoD IT standards and enterprise interoperability.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in software development with low-code or traditional tech, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. Remote or hybrid work options may be available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS/BA or related, or 12 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience with low-code or traditional technologies.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, engineer, and maintain low-code Power Apps solutions for NIWC Atlantic.
  • Deliver secure, scalable applications following DoD IT standards.
  • Engage in Agile SDLC activities: planning, requirements, sprints, reviews.
  • Ensure interoperability with enterprise systems and data sources.
  • Assist in data mapping, database design, and debugging of Power Apps components.

What You’ll Do…

As a Power Apps Developer supporting NIWC, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, engineering, and maintaining lowcode solutions that enhance efficiency across the command. You will leverage Power Apps, along with broader DoD/DON IT standards, to deliver secure, scalable applications and process automation tools. Your work will directly support mission readiness by improving system interoperability, modernizing workflows, and contributing to enterprise-wide digital transformation efforts.

Key Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes
  • Deliver Modern LowCodeApp Solutions. Design, build, and deploy Power Apps–based solutions, including new development and modernization of existing tools, to improve automation and operational efficiency across NIWC Atlantic.
  • Ensure Secure & Compliant Development. Implement code with strong documentation, adhere to DoD cybersecurity standards, support secure data handling, and review application logic and data structures for vulnerabilities.
  • Support SDLC Using Agile Methodologies. Participate in planning, requirements gathering, sprint ceremonies, design discussions, and code reviews to support efficient development cycles aligned to Agile best practices.
  • Maintain Interoperability Across Platforms. Create solutions that integrate effectively with enterprise systems, data sources, and lowcode platforms, ensuring interoperability and compliance with command IT standards.
  • Contribute to Data & Systems Engineering Efforts. Support database design, data mapping, data interoperability efforts, and troubleshooting/debugging of Power Apps components and related system objects.

  • Designing, architecting, and implementing low code solutions in environments such as Power Apps, Appian, or ServiceNow
  • Gathering requirements, translating them into workflows or process models, and communicating solutions effectively to stakeholders
  • Debugging complex application objects, automating processes, and handling data integrations
  • Proficiency in Power Apps (Canvas and/or Model Driven apps)
  • Standard scripting and programming languages such as Java, SQL, and HTML
  • Lowcode/nocode reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Appian End User Reporting,AppEzy)
  • Problem solving, technical documentation, and presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline. (In lieu of degree, 12 years of relevant experience is acceptable.)
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in software development using lowcode or traditional programming technologies. Must have experience translating requirements into functional software, contributing to design reviews, writing unit tests, and supporting secure coding practices.
  • Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Appian certification or Power Platform certifications preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Prior Navy or DoD-related IT experience
  • Experience with Power Apps, Appian, or ServiceNow in enterprise environments
  • Experience supporting database development and data interoperability programs
  • Clearance: Active DoD clearance highly preferred.
  • Salary Range:$100,000 - $105,000, dependent on experience.
  • Environment: Position may be performed remotely or in a hybrid capacity, subject to organizational requirements and the candidate’s proximity to an approved worksite.
