Description
The Powder Coat Technician will use powder coat techniques on various materials. Material preparation such as sand blasting, cleaning, dipping, masking, among other techniques is required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare parts for coating
- Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application
- Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems
- Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
- Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using viscometers
- Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations
- Knowledge of thermosetting resin coatings, wash, and pretreatments
- Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance
- Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout facility
- Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment
- Load and unload parts or product onto fixtures
- Good knowledge of the mechanics and repair of painting equipment
- Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to work in a fast pace environment
- Demonstrate ability to work independently without daily supervision
- Work 50+ hour weeks; to meet the needs of the customer occasional overtime may be required. The company will try and give as much notice as possible
- Work with exposures to hazards such as chemicals and dust
- Work near moving machinery and equipment
- Work in a noisy environment
Physical Demands
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, hands, fingers, legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling of materials, and operating machinery
- Perform repetitive motions using your hands and fingers such as, but not limited to, grasping, gripping, and holding
- Carrying &lifting 10 - 50 Pounds frequently
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Strong background in powder coating and industrial painting
- Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques
- 1-3 years minimum experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of educations and experience
