A leading community-focused organization is seeking a Group Fitness Instructor to promote healthy living and support community engagement. This role involves designing and delivering engaging fitness classes, building relationships with members, and maintaining certifications to ensure effective instruction. Applicants should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to member needs.

Designs, prepares, and delivers class routines as directed by the supervisor, ensuring all components and safety guidelines are met in accordance with current exercise physiology practices.
Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA community.
Engages members and supports them in achieving their health and wellness goals.
Maintains valid national certification specific to the class format and stays informed on wellness trends to provide effective support and information to members.
Records accurate class attendance, maintaining a minimum of 60% target attendance with continual growth.
Instructs at least 2 classes per week (8/month), including at least one substitute class per quarter, and secures substitutes when needed.
Starts and ends classes on time.
Sets up equipment for classes and assists members in cleaning equipment before and after classes.
Maintains equipment and the cleanliness of the group exercise area.
Participates in community outreach campaigns and shares announcements as directed by the supervisor.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds appropriately to emergency situations.
Qualifications:
Belief in the YMCA's mission to nurture youth potential, support healthy living, and serve the community.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all social and economic backgrounds.
Current NCCA Group Fitness Certification (ACE, NETA, or AFAA) and a Specialty/Trademarked Certification (e.g., cycling, yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Pound, Les Mills BODYPUMP); in some cases, an NCCA Certified Personal Trainer Certification may be accepted.
Responsible for keeping all certifications current and in good standing.
Outgoing personality with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
Strong customer service skills and ability to promote programs and services.
Professional demeanor, enthusiastic attitude, and genuine commitment to quality service.
Willingness to work flexible hours based on member needs and scheduling.
High school diploma and teaching experience preferred.
Successful completion of a class instruction demo by the supervisor or designee upon hire.
Current CPR/First Aid & AED certification within the first 30 days of employment; until then, cannot work alone.
Completion of all mandatory YMCA of Central Ohio training(s) by the required deadlines.
