Job summary

Aviagen seeks staff to support the vaccination crew in its poultry farming operations. You will work with day-old chicks, assist with moving, weighing, and vaccinating birds, and handle blood sampling and tagging as part of a safety-focused team.

You must be able to work around live animals and a farm environment, follow strict welfare and bio-security guidelines, and tolerate odors and loud conditions. Regular weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Understand oral and written instructions and perform simple tasks.
• Ability to perform work that is repetitive in nature.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

• Work with day old chicks.
• Collect birds for moving, weighing, and vaccinations.
• Work with live animals and the associated environment.
• Collect blood samples, band/tag or remove tags from birds.
• Follow Animal Care Standards, Animal Welfare Guidelines, and Bio-Security policies and procedures.
• Work with chemicals such as detergents, disinfectants, etc.
• Perform essential duties in a safe and efficient manner as trained.
• Be able to be around farm related smells or odors and loud/noisy environment.
• May work up to 6 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
