Job summary

Select Genetics seeks a Serviceman to assist day-to-day operations across multiple farms in North Carolina. You will drive a company vehicle, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform tasks to maintain safe, efficient poultry production while following biosecurity and safety rules.

Strong teamwork with Farm Managers is essential. Basic math, computer skills, and good communication help you organize workloads, prioritize tasks, and contribute to a positive, professional image for the company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• College degree in a related field is preferred.
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License and clean driving record.
• Knowledge of basic business practices; ability to lead and manage others.
• Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow directives from the Breeder Manager and maintain safe farm operations.
• Supervise washing and disinfecting turkey production facilities.
• Drive a company vehicle and assist with delivery of supplies.
• Organize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.
• Exhibit courtesy and professionalism in all interactions.
• Be willing to work extended hours and weekends when needed.

Job description

This position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of multiple farms in a safe and cost-effective way.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Basic math skills are essential.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Be a self-starter without the need for constant supervision.
• Is required to drive a company vehicle and must pass an MVR.
• Occasional delivery of supplies and equipment to various locations.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Good reading skills.
• Supervision of washing and disinfecting turkey production facilities in a safe and organized manner.
• Follow all of the company’s rules and regulations for biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.
• Work productively with Farm Managers and peers in building an effective team.
• Be willing to help in any area to get the job done.
• Work with a variety of tools and equipment.
• Have the ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull, and lift 50lbs or more
• Successfully work with live animals.
• Organize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.
• Perform the duties of the job while constantly moving and using hands, occasionally lifting objects while being exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals and fumes.
• Work an extended work day and weekends, if needed.
• Present a positive and professional image of the company.
• Exhibit courtesy and professionalism in everything you do.

Principle Accountabilities

1. Follow the directives of the Breeder Manager.
2. Effective time management.
3. Ensure the safety of Select Genetics assets under the position's management.
4. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
5. Willingness to work a varied schedule where some weekends will be required.
6. Run/review activity reports determining the progress and status in attaining objectives, conference with the Breeder Manager and managers to revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
7. Follow and enforce all company regulations pertaining to biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety. Keep employees on follow-up training schedules.
8. Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
9. Lead, train, motivate, and mentor employees and managers on the farm with the objective of building and maintaining a high-performing team to meet or exceed production goals.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A College Degree in a related field is preferred.
• Does not own or operate around backyard poultry, foul, or swine operations off duty.
• Knowledge and/or experience of animal husbandry and welfare preferred.
• A valid North Carolina Driver's License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record are required.
• A solid understanding of basic business practices; the ability to lead and manage others; the ability to build creative, productive, and cohesive teams; excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and listening; the ability to be self-sufficient and able to organize and prioritize work; the ability to work under pressure; the ability to read and interpret relevant technical, industry, government regulations, and legislation; the ability to communicate interact, influence, persuade all levels of employees. The incumbent must exhibit sound business judgment, be decisive, flexible, and have determination.
• Bi-lingual Spanish speaking skills are a plus.
