Job summary

Butterball is seeking a QA Grading Specialist to oversee poultry grading and certification under USDA standards. You will perform sampling, evaluate products for defects, and ensure compliance with QA procedures. The role includes recordkeeping, holding nonconforming products, and collaborating with QA leaders, USDA auditors, and production teams.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent and QA Grader training (annual refresh). Be prepared to work shifts in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; QA Grader training is required and refreshed annually.
• Must complete QA Grader training and demonstrate grading proficiency; refresh annually.

Responsibilities

• Performs random sampling and quality evaluations to verify USDA grading and certification.
• Evaluates products at grading stations for defects and readiness-to-cook criteria.
• Records sample results, timestamps, downtime, and retention data accurately.
• Notifies QA leadership of unacceptable results and recommends corrective actions.
• Initiates or supports product holds and ensures proper identification and disposition of held products.
• Maintains QA hold logs, label logs, and production volume records per QA Grading Manual.
• Verifies official USDA grade marks and certification markings on eligible products.
• Supports calibration and verification of scales, thermometers, water meters, and other equipment.
• Participates in USDA plant reviews, audits, and corrective action activities as needed.
• Follows Plan-Do-Check-Act to identify preventive and corrective actions.
