Job summary

Aviagen in Watertown, NY is seeking a Hatchery Associate I to support daily hatchery operations, maintain sanitation, transfer eggs to hatchers, prepare newly hatched chicks for processing, and ensure biosecurity and animal welfare standards are met.

You will work with team members to meet production schedules, perform cleaning, inventory checks, and assist with packaging and shipping of chicks, contributing to efficient, safe hatchery operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency and quality.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays based on business needs.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and handle physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hatchery facility following biosecurity and food safety standards.
• Clean and sanitize hatchery equipment and work areas.
• Transfer eggs from setters to hatchers per procedures and schedules.
• Prepare newly hatched chicks for processing, sexing, vaccination, packaging, and shipment to customer farms.
• Handle day-old chicks carefully and humanely following SOPs and animal welfare guidelines.
• Assist with hatch pull operations while ensuring chick quality standards.
• Record production data and assist with inventory and housekeeping to keep areas organized.
