Job summary

Daybreak Foods in Iowa seeks an Animal Caretaker to oversee welfare and environment of laying hens under the Production Supervisor. You will monitor barns, ensure safe conditions, and perform light maintenance on facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities include securing premises, documenting tasks, observing bird health and feed/water, and assisting with bird movement and cleaning. A HS diploma or GED and 1 year of ag experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year experience in agricultural environment and animal care preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure chicken and premises security; keep doors locked to protect birds.
• Document completed tasks daily and weekly.
• Monitor bird health and feed, light, air, and water supply.
• Collect and dispose of mortality.
• Move birds and operate animal moving equipment.
• Monitor egg lines for blockages and clean manure belt equipment.
• Maintain ventilation systems and reliable equipment operation.
• Follow safety policies and demonstrate husbandry knowledge.
• Report findings to Production Manager/Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
