Job summary

Daybreak Foods, Inc. is seeking an Animal Caretaker to care for the welfare and environment of chickens in our Iowa facilities. Under the Production Supervisor, you will monitor barns, maintain cleanliness, and support safe flock management.

You will perform light maintenance, document tasks, and follow all safety policies while ensuring proper ventilation, feed, and water. This role requires reliability, basic reading/writing, and teamwork in a hands-on farm setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year experience in agricultural environment and animal care preferred.
• Must be self-directed and organized; strong communication skills expected.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills required.
• Able to work with animals and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the security of chickens and premises; keep doors locked.
• Document completed tasks daily and weekly.
• Monitor bird health and proper feed, light, air and water supply.
• Properly collect and dispose of mortality.
• Move birds in/out of houses and operate moving equipment and cleaning.
• Maintain ventilation systems and general animal welfare.
• Follow safety policies and company procedures.
