What You’ll Do

As the Assessment Coordinator – Scoring, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the quality and effectiveness of our postsecondary assessment programs by performing formative and summative evaluation of contract deliverables provided by vendors. You’ll have the chance to:

  • Lead and drive innovation in current psychometric theory, practice, and procedures.
  • Work closely with colleagues and vendors to enhance assessment activities.
  • Contribute to state-wide initiatives that promote increasing the number of highly qualified K-12 teachers and administrators in Florida.

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Conducts item- and test-level analyses and provides psychometric recommendations based on various statistical criteria as well as ensures quality control for contract deliverables for all postsecondary assessment bureau tests pertaining to Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE) and Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE).
  • Determines appropriate equating methods, analyzes equating outcomes, and implements high-stakes decisions to link tests for comparable scores.
  • Utilizes statistical software such as SAS, MS Excel, and MS Access to conduct data quality control, data management, to produce program reports, and tables for special request projects.
  • Performs psychometric reviews of test items and analyzes Florida’s postsecondary assessment data.
  • Employs contract deliverable monitoring procedures to manage timelines and coordinate work tasks in the administration of a large-scale testing program.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, Statistics, Public or Business Administration, Math, Science, or Technology related field,

or

  • A Bachelor’s degree in one of these fields and 2 years of experience in psychometrics and data analysis, project management, program evaluation, test development/ scoring/ administration, or curriculum design and development. A certification in SAS programming can substitute for 2 years of experience.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with knowledge of legal issues pertaining to test administration, scoring, and reporting
  • Experience with knowledge of teacher certification statutes, rules, and policies
  • A love for solving statistical and psychometric problems
