Job summary

Magnera Corporation is seeking a Press Operator to lead a printing press crew, ensuring quality products through statistical process control and troubleshooting. The candidate will monitor color, ink viscosity, and color theory, while maintaining safety and organization in a fast-paced plant environment.

The role requires 3rd shift availability (8:45 pm – 5 am, Mon - Fri), a high school diploma or GED, and 3–5 years of manufacturing experience with flexographic printing press work.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read Job Travelers and interpret specifications.
  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude with basic color theory knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Complete safety orientation and forklift certification training.
  • Demonstrate understanding of product specs and visual inspection requirements.
  • Collect and document data related to production.
  • Use color measuring instruments (Techkon) to monitor color.
  • Measure and monitor ink viscosities and their effect on color.
  • Train new team members and transfer information between shifts.
  • Adhere to flexographic printing changeover procedures.
  • Maintain 5S, housekeeping, and organizational standards.
  • Understand MSDS and SOC sheets and manage hazardous waste procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Press Operator will ensure a quality product using statistical process control methods and troubleshooting techniques is achieved. Provides leadership on a printing press to ensure maximum machine and raw material efficiencies are achieved while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. This position is responsible for the direction and leadership of a printing press, and the crew assigned to it.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete safety orientation and forklift certification training.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of our product, customer specifications, and visual inspection requirements.
  • Collect and document specific data.
  • Demonstrate basic math skills, both metric and standard.
  • Ability to use color measuring instruments for monitoring color (Techkon).
  • Measure and monitor ink viscosities and its effect on color.
  • Basic color theory and color control in multi-color printing.
  • Apply measurement and data to identify root causes and solve problems.
  • Use applicable statistical tools when and where necessary.
  • Effectively communicate and interact professionally with all people in the work environment.
  • Understand the importance of respect and maintain the confidentiality of the company and customer.
  • Utilize teamwork to fulfill job requirements and process improvements.
  • Must have general computer skills (i.e., JDE, Quality Windows, etc.)
  • Effectively train new team members.
  • Understand the components and functions of the basic flexographic printing press, including but not limited to the Unwind, Infeed, Drying, Outfeed, Rewind, Register, Impression setting, Port-a-lift and Inking systems.
  • Adhere to changeover procedures for flexographic printing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret Job Travelers and how to identify raw materials by part numbers.
  • Recognize, identify, and communicate problems in specific terms (troubleshooting).
  • Effectively transfer information between shifts.
  • Understand and interpret MSDS sheets.
  • Understand SOC sheets and how to properly fill out.
  • Demonstrate good 5S, housekeeping, and organizational skills.
  • Ensure proper solvent and ink handling procedures are implemented and followed by everyone.
  • Ensure proper hazardous waste handling procedures are implemented and followed by everyone.
  • Must have the flexibility to adjust breaks and lunch times based on production needs.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be willing to work 3rd shift- 8:45 pm – 5 am, Mon - Fri
  • S. Diploma or GED
  • Three- five yeas of manufacturing experience required. Three- five years of flexographic printing press experience strongly desired. .
  • Knowledgeof andskills in the use of office machines (computersand printers) and business procedures. Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude and experience.

  • Occasionallifting upto 50 lbs.
