Job summary

Amerit Fleet Solutions in San Diego County is seeking a skilled Material Handling Equipment Technician to repair and maintain light- to heavy-duty fleet vehicles, trailers, and warehouse equipment. The role focuses on forklifts, Crown stand-up lifts, and Big Joe walk-behind lifts, with diesel engine diagnostics and PM services.

Travel to multiple sites is required, with a Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule. Compensation is $38.00–$42.00 per hour, paid weekly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance or possess an auto or diesel technology diploma
• Experience servicing CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment
• ASE Certifications preferred
• Commercial Driver’s License Class A preferred
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle to check operation
• Must provide own hand tools & toolbox

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks
• Work on forklifts, Crown stand-up lifts, and Big Joe walk-behind lifts
• Maintain and repair diesel engines, brakes, tires, AC, and PM services
• Prepare vehicle records manually and in a computer system
• Conduct safety inspections and document findings
• Interact with clients via email and phone as needed
• Move parts to/from job sites and install/remove parts as necessary
• Adhere to all laws, regulations, and company policies

Position Summary

Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the US, is looking to hire a skilledMaterial Handling Equipment Technician! The Mechanic is responsible for timely repair and maintenance of light- to heavy-duty fleet vehicles, trailers, and various equipment to ensure a safe and efficient operation. This position is multi-functional. The majority of the work will be on Forklifts, Crown stand-up lifts, and Big Joe walk-behind lifts. Strong knowledge of the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of these three types of units. The mechanic position also requires a high level of proficiency and working knowledge related to diesel engine diagnostics, brakes, tires, AC, and PM services.

Our mobile technician will travel to multiple sites in San Diego County, working onsite, outdoors in the elements.

Compensation: $38.00 - $42.00/hour (doe) - Paid weekly, every Friday

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• The majority of the work will be on Forklifts, Crown stand-up lifts, and Big Joe walk-behind lifts.
• Strong knowledge of the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of these three types of units.
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to a fleet of light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty trucks.
• The fleet also includes CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
• Perform services and repairs to diesel engines, brakes, tires, AC, and regular PM services.
• Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare required safety documentation
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
• Inspect and perform work on the underparts of vehicles
• Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenanceMove parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles
• Interact with clients through both email and phone as necessary
• Perform other duties as required

Key Competencies and Minimum Education

• At least 5 years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess an auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school
• Experience servicing and repairing CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment – highly desired
• Experience with Peterbilt, Kenworth, Ford, Chevy, Linde, and Hyster assets preferred
• ASE Certifications preferred
• Commercial Driver’s License Class A (Preferred)
• Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if it is operating properly
• Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
• Knowledge of handheld scan tools and the process of diagnosing vehicles.
• Ability to read schematics and be familiar with the process
• Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)

Working Conditions

• Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
• Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes, and noise.

• Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
