Job summary

The Sharan Lab at Texas Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a motivated postdoctoral scholar to study host-pathogen interactions in TB/HIV co-infection using small and large animal models in BSL3. The role involves conducting immunology and single-cell RNA sequencing studies, designing experiments, and collaborating across teams to advance mechanistic insights.

Qualifications

• PhD in Immunology or closely related discipline from an accredited university.
• At least 1 year of BSL3 and TB-related research, including immunology, flow cytometry and scRNA-seq.
• First-author papers in peer-reviewed journals and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs the study with the supervisor and conducts scientific research with other team members.
• Conducts BSL3 experiments on animal models, including flow cytometry, CFU plating, pathological analyses, cytokine analyses, confocal microscopy and viral RNA quantification.
• Analyzes data and reports to the supervisor in real time.
• Prepares or assists in preparation of material for publication.
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of grant applications.
• Participates in seminars and scientific meetings appropriate to the field.
