Position Overview And Responsibilities

The Lee Laboratory in the Cardiovascular Biology Research Program (CVB) at the OMRF is seeking postdoctoral scientists to lead research projects on immunometabolism in cardiometabolic diseases. Postdocs will investigate how immune remodeling and metabolism interact with cardiac function and electrophysiology in response to risk factor stressors. The Lee Lab, CVB, and OMRF offer state-of-the-art resources, including advanced equipment for cardiac physiology, mitochondrial and metabolic studies, flow cytometry, spatial and bulk transcriptomics, and bioinformatics analysis through the Center for Biomedical Data Sciences. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead independent research projects focused on immunometabolism in cardiometabolic diseases.
  • Investigate interactions between immune remodeling, metabolism, cardiac function, and electrophysiology in response to risk factor stressors.
  • Conduct experiments using advanced technologies, including:
  • Cardiac physiology and electrophysiology assays
  • Mitochondrial and metabolic analyses
  • Flow cytometry
  • Spatial and bulk transcriptomics
  • Bioinformatics through the Center for Biomedical Data Sciences
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and contribute to scientific discussions.
  • Write and publish high-quality research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepare fellowship grant applications with mentorship and support from the Lee Lab.
  • Collaborate with team members and external researchers as needed.
  • Present research findings at scientific conferences and workshops.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent.

Successful candidates should be detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to clearly summarize and present research findings.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with prior research experience and publications in immunology and cardiometabolic diseases are highly desired. Additional expertise in echocardiography, electrophysiology, and surgical techniques for heart disease is advantageous and will support the development of independent research directions.
