The Sleep-Vascular Program at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA invites a Postdoctoral Scholar to join our translational team studying hypertension and endothelial dysfunction in obstructive sleep apnea. The project spans molecular studies, human cardiovascular physiology, and machine learning to model tissue hypoxia.

The successful candidate will perform ex-vivo and in-vitro experiments on human tissue and cultured endothelial cells.

Qualifications

  • MD or PhD completed by start of employment in biological sciences.
  • Strong technical lab background across molecular, imaging and vascular biology.
  • Experience with transcription regulation, imaging, tissue-on-chip, vascular biology, oxidative biology, or hypoxia research.
  • Some experience with human research or required training.
  • Experience with statistical software and publications.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead translational project evaluating intermittent hypoxia effects on sympathetic and endothelial functions in humans and tissue models.
  • Collaborate with a team of vascular physiologists and contribute to cardiovascular studies.
  • Perform ex-vivo and in-vitro experiments on human tissue and cultured endothelial cells; support wet-lab operations.
  • Engage in interactions with patient-volunteers and ensure compliance with clinical research regulations.
