The Prevention Science Institute (PSI) is a multi-disciplinaryinstitute focused on understanding human development, preventingbehavioral health problems, and implementing effectiveinterventions in community settings. The PSI encompasses focusareas consistent with the field of prevention science, includingprevention and intervention, and implementation science.
Understanding effective intervention strategies and the outcomesassociated with these interventions across multiple domains offunctioning, including biological, social, and contextual, is thefocus of research at the PSI. The core mission of the PSI is to improve the lives and well-being of children, individuals, andfamilies throughout the lifespan. The PSI is committed to researchthat expands our understanding of interventions and developmentwith diverse populations, and actively seeks to promote researchthat reduces health disparities in service utilization.
Postdoctoral scholars seek to improve skills in independentresearch through direct, mentored scholarship with faculty for thepurpose of acquiring research training. Principal Investigators arecollaborative in their research activities and postdoctoralscholars are expected to serve in both lead and supporting roles inmanuscript development and other project activities. The nature ofthe work is relatively fast-paced and we value rigor,reproducibility, and productivity in scholarship from all membersof the research team, while maintaining a positive and supportivework environment.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work effectivelywith faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diversebackgrounds. Postdocs may provide guidance and oversight toundergraduate and graduate students.
For the purpose of acquiring additional professional skills neededto pursue a career path in the chosen field, this position requiresa formal mentor plan and Individualized Development Plan.
Positions are limited duration, funding contingent appointments that may be part-time or short-term contracts not to exceed oneyear, and may be renewed for up to three years. An additional twoyear extension may be granted with approval from the Office of theVice President for Research for a total appointment of five years.Renewals will be dependent upon program needs, funding, andperformance. Salary will be dependent upon education andexperience.
